Day 5 - Video Game Franchises

Top 5: Video Game Franchises
  1. Super Mario Bros.
  2. Final Fantasy
  3. Warcraft
  4. Madden
  5. Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Bros. is simply the king of video game franchises. It has spawned countless influencial games, junk loads of toys, a movie and of course, one of the worst TV shows of all time:
The Super Mario Brothers Super Show
At #2, Final Fantasy is still the premier RPG franchise 20 years after the release of its first game. The stories, characters, gameplay and music of every Final Fantasy game is second to none. Lets just try to forget about The Spirits Within. At #3 is the game that put Blizzard on the map. The most important RTS ever, Warcraft has had 2 sequels, expanded into a hugely sucessful MMORPG and was directly responsible for the greatest RTS ever, Starcraft. The Madden series is the most important sports franchise on the market. Fans of other sports franchises (like NBA Live) dream of the day that their franchise catches up with Madden. I've never been a fan of Zelda. I never owned a Zelda game, but I respect influence the franchise has had on the adventure genre. With spin offs like Ocarina of Time, the Zelda franchise edges out two of my favouire franchises: Street Fighter and Civilization.

Hmmm I agree with Super Mario Brothers. I'm seeing a trend with really bad movies. Mario, FF, Doom. What about Street Fighter (II)? That might make my top list. How many creations has that game spawned? And of course, a great action movie with Jean-Claude!

I actually enjoyed Mortal Kombat. On the DVD there was an option like "Kiss Ass" or something, which ONLY showed the fight scenes. Cut down the movie to like 15 minutes, and only the stuff I wanted to see anyways.
